Self Propelled Modular Transporters – SPMT manufactured by CHINAHEAVYLIFT-Tianjie Heavy Industries
Due to the flexibility, the CHINAHEAVYLIFT SPMTs play an important role in most powerful heavy-duty transportation systems worldwide, such as the in power plants, oil and gas industries, road transportation, shipyard and offshore industry, plant construction sites.

1.Frame
SPMT’s frame is the major carrying parts which were designed under the consideration of the worst-load condition. The frame features anti-moment box shape and its structure strength and rigidity was optimized by finite element analysis.
2. Hydraulic System
Hydraulic system is composed of driving system, steering system, and hydraulic suspension system. Hydraulic driving system is a close-circuit which consists of variable pump and variable motor. Engine drives the variable closed pump and delivery hydraulic oil to motor parallel. Variable of hydraulic pump was realized by DA valve and variable of hydraulic motor was realized by EP Control. Both Steering system and hydraulic suspension, which features load sensitive, are open system and power by open pump. Each steering suspension is driven by steering cylinder. The movements of the hydraulic suspension such as lifting and lowering as well as platform leveling adjustment are controlled by solenoid valve.
3.Hydraulic Suspension
The axle and the frame are connected by the hydraulic suspension and the height is adjustable. The hydraulic suspension, which composed of suspension frame, balance arm, suspension cylinder, and the slewing rings, are installed on the lateral beam. The axle is installed at the front end of balance arm. When the road condition is not flat, the suspension and the axle will adjust upward, downward, and swing in order to ensure force on the axle in balance.
4.Steering System
The steering system is rod steering, It features simple, flexible, reliable, low steering angle of first axle is 50 degree.
The steering is manager by electrical closed loop, if the steering error beyond 6 degree, driving system of SPMT can be shut down automatically.
5. Operation and micro electrical control system.
(1)Operation: Adopts remote control, whole vehicle will control by remote controller. Remote controller manages running and steering of SPMT, the lifting and lowering of the platform of SPMT.
(2)Controlling Mechanism
Controlling is realized by computer-based micro-electric automatic control system. The micro-electric control system applies CAN Bus Communication. Each executing and power component is equipped with an analog control panel. All kind of control signals and gauge signals are directly input into the main control box through the multi-core cables, processed by the central computer. After digital-analog conversion or digital switch values, directly output to the end control, adjustment and execution equipment.
Working condition of whole vehicle system shows in digital or screen emulation on the screen in the driver cabinet, which is visual and operable.
Except steering system was control by micro-electric, driving system is aslo applies microcomputer control.
6.Anti-Skidding of driving system
Each driving axle equipped speed sensor. When driving, micro-electric system monitor the actual slip ratio of driving axle .When slip ratio excess the set value, micro-electric system will gives the singal and reduce the displacement of hydraulic motor which power the driving axle. This can ensure the effectiveness of force on other driving axle and also realized the anti-skidding.
7. Brake System
SPMT equipped air-compressed brake system. The brake is shoe break. The air-storage double spring chambers features spring energy and diaphragm brake chamber. When the release by manual valve, the spring can make the vehicle brakes, if the air compressor meets any failure, the spring can also make braking.
8.Security Guarantee of Hydraulic suspension
When any pipes or hose which connect suspension with hydraulic oil tank are damage or erupts, it will result the heavy loadings slip off or turnover. To prevent such case not happen, the suspension safety valve installed at the fuel-inlet of suspension hydraulic oil tank. In case of damage of brake, this supporting point still available and prevent the vehicle from capsizing.
10. Painting
Surface of Steel structure meet the standard of ISO Sa2 1/2, primer is 702 epoxy zinc-rich 30μm, intermediate coat is 824 epoxy zinc-rich 30μm, topcoat is double p0lyurethane, each coat is 30μm, total thickness is 120μm. The color of topcoat is yellow (card No: Y07 , GSB05-1426-2001).
